This report from the Friedman Foundation contents that Education Savings Accounts are the optimal way for bringing Milton Friedman’s original school voucher idea to the 21st Century. Milton Friedman originally published his voucher work in 1962. The review of this report finds that crucial implementation details left out of Friedman’s work on vouchers are also missing from the Foundation’s latest ideologically-driven report. The reviewers conclude that at this time, the evidence on achievement gains does not show any advantage to vouchers or voucher-like mechanisms and the evidence on costs shows potential excessive administration fees.
